Guard of Honour for George

Today was a sad and heart-breaking day, as we provided a guard of honour and Imperial escort for our little friend George who at just 14 years old sadly passed away the other day.

2020 12 10 0000
If you can love, and be loved, then you've had a life worth living, no matter how long or short that life might be, and it was obvious today that George was very much loved.
It is days like today that make us feel incredibly proud to be part of the 501st UK Garrison and it is an absolute honour to be asked by the family to do this for George.

Sad loss of one of our members BH-5211

20201217 0000

It is our sad duty to report the passing of Jeremy Bulloch, the actor who portrayed Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and Return of the Jedi in 1983. Jeremy was a full member of the 501st UK Garrison (BH 5211).
As well as his appearances in the Star Wars Original Trilogy, Jeremy had an acting career spanning 45 years, including roles in the James Bond film Octopussy in 1983 and a number of Doctor Who episodes in the 1970s.
For many star wars fans Jeremy was a familiar face on the convention scene and was a regular at Star Wars Celebrations over the years, regaling fans with stories from his time behind the mask and his career beyond that galaxy far, far away. Even after retiring from conventions in 2018 he still did signings from home for his fans.
Jeremy and his iconic costume turned a supporting character into a Starwars icon whose story would continue for decades, and still lives on in The Mandalorian.
Our thoughts are with his family.
Buckets off Sir.

Sad loss of one of our members DZ-20153

DZ-20153

It is our sad duty to report the sad loss of one of our members.
DZ20153 Benji Berry was a well loved Jawa in the Starwars community, an active member of the 501st UK Garrison as well as a number of other Starwars costuming clubs.
Benji was a Jawa to his core, with a mischievous attitude and an ever present grin. He knew the value of making people happy in so many ways by simply being himself and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. We are proud to have known you for even a brief period of time. Goodbye my friend. Buckets off, and May the force be with you.

The Lions Club of Reading
The fantastic Star Wars 501 Garrison crew have raised funds for Reading by producing superhero face masks. Sold at local hairdressers and barbers this has raised several hundred pounds for Round Up. (Message us if you wish to sell them too).
They are community minded, for many years enthralling Star Wars fans and supporting Reading by appearing at many events such as our Dragon Boat Festivals,
You can support Round up by using any of the 60+ local businesses who have helped raise over £5600 to date to help our vital community services survive and continue through this pandemic.
Our local businesses need our support too, with many keen to hear that you are eager to visit again once they are fully open.

On the 20-Dec-2020 Benjamin J. Berry passed on.

Benji (DZ-20153) was a much loved member of the UK Garrison, be it in the role of a mischievous Jawa or the web-slinging superhero Spiderman, Benji brought smiles to all around.

He was driven to inspire joy in the lives of others with his children's hospital visits.

Even more, Benji created the Little Heroes Fund to support children’s bone cancer research.

Benji was committed to making our World a better place.

Benjamin, your smile and bright eyes will now lighten the Hall of the 501st Eternal Legionnaires.

A new star is now shining in the sky.

The UK Garrison is proud to support the following charities.
